Zabawa Karnawałowa, “PPL Swing” – podsumowanie

Filed under: Barka UK News — admin @ 8:30 am

Ponad 800 funtów zebrała młoda polonia podczas charytatywnego balu. Pieniądze trafiły do stowarzyszenia Barka UK, której wolontariusze pomagają bezdomnym w Londynie.

W rewanżu Barka zaprosiła przedstawicieli PPL do swojej siedziby. Polscy profesjonaliści byli zadziwieni opowieściami byłych bezdomnych, którzy dzisiaj jako liderzy fundacji pomagają wyjść z bezdomności swoim rodakom mieszkającym na londyńskich ulicach. Wiecej

On 29th February -Migration and Substance Use-Bradford

Filed under: Barka UK News,Conferences — admin @ 12:56 pm

On 29th February there was national event held about Migration and  Substance Use. Organisers including CEEC Resources, Horton Link up Project, Horton Housing and Sharing Voices Bradford provided an opportunity to discuss  and engage in dialogue regarding topics including homelessness, human trafficking and legal issues for CEE migrants in the UK.

The event addressed issues around substance misuse, raised awareness for new needed resources and provided practical information of better understanding of Central and East European cultures and how to engage with migrants from that part of Europe.

There were numbers of speakers from organisers local partners, NHS, Law Centre and Hope Housing who were presenting CEE migrants issues. It also included:

  • Dr M Grapich showing results of his research about migration, multiculturalism and substance misuse;
  • Mr H Abramek presented complex solutions implemented in the UK by Barka UK. Barka UK proved that linked number of programs: Reconnection, Social Economy Centre and National Helpline have vital contribution towards migrants help with problems they face being in foreign country.

At the end of the event there was a “speaker panel” when participants were answered certain problematic questions and we debated how to design services for CEE migrants and their engagement with local communities which will
practically work in the near future.
